Please note: probate records held in central archive storage are taking longer to be issued (typically those pertaining to years pre 1996) also, some records pertaining to the years 2019 - 2021. In all cases, we shall do our utmost to have records issued and dispatched within the shortest amount of time. Should we exceed our estimated timescale, a full and immediate refund is available upon request.


Terms & Conditions

'UK Documents' comply with The Consumer Protection (Distance Selling) Regulations 2000 The Electronic Commerce (EC Directive) Regulations 2002 The Data Protection Act 1998

Definitions: In these Terms and Conditions: 
"We/Us/Our" means 'UK Documents'. 
"You and Your" means the customer. 
"Document(s)" means a paper copy of any public record obtained on your behalf. 
"Record(s)" means any written documentation held on paper, microfiche or computer.

We provide an independent search service for the purpose of obtaining any available public probate records held by The Probate Service (England & Wales). The Probate Service is part of Her Majesty’s Courts and Tribunals Service and any facilities we use for the purpose of obtaining records are made available to the general public. All documents issued are official copies of the original as issued by Her Majesty’s Courts and Tribunals Service.

Our fee consists of the cost of the document and our administration costs for searching, procuring and dispatching of the document.

The cost of our service is as indicated on our website in pounds sterling, this is the amount that will be charged by us using any of our approved methods of payment. Any additional charges imposed by your card provider for the transaction will be the responsibility of the card holder. The payment transaction will appear on your card statement as being made to 'UK Documents'.

If we are unable to identify or supply a document based on the information supplied by you at the time of ordering, we will retain a search and administration fee of 10.00 GBP. Any outstanding balance of the total amount paid will then be refunded to you, according to the payment method used to place the order. In the case of a recent death and probate not having yet been completed, we may offer to continue to make a regular search for an extended three month period. If an extended search is required and no entry is listed within a three month period (from date of order) no refund will be applicable.

Under no circumstances will we be held liable for any loss, be it financial or otherwise, if a record is not identified by us or a document cannot be supplied. Nor will we be held liable for any loss, be it financial or otherwise for any omissions/errors which may occur in either the documents supplied or records searched.

Documents are despatched by us, via the Royal Mail postal service according to the delivery method you have chosen, or via email when this option has been requested. We are unable to offer a collection service from our premises. Delivery is deemed to have been effected at the point of despatch and we accept no liability for the delay or non-delivery of documents. Only when a delivery option which requires the recipients signature, will a full refund or replacement document be given and we reserve the right to wait fourteen working days from the date of order before a full refund or replacement document is issued.

All orders are processed according to the timescale stated on our service page at the time of ordering. Our stated timescale is based on Monday - Friday being a working day and excludes bank holidays or any period in which we are unable to provide our service. If for any reason we are unable to provide our service, this will be clearly indicated on the 'home page' of our website.

All documents supplied are as issued by the Probate Registry and are made available as a scanned copy of the original. In some cases the document may be difficult to read and this is normally due to the quality of the original document and/or italic handwriting. Under no circumstances are we responsible for the reading quality of the issued document and for this reason no refunds can be made if a document is partly legible.

Whilst we endeavour to complete all orders within our stated timescale this should be used for guidance purposes only and does not form part of any contract of order. Customers must be aware that documents may be delayed due to circumstances beyond our control. If we are aware of any likely delays this information will be clearly stated on our website. If a delay of more than 72hrs is expected after your order has been processed we will notify you by telephone or email.

Contract of order:  The contract between 'UK Documents' and the customer is deemed to have commenced when we have received your order and payment has been made. Regulation 13c of The Consumer Protection (Distance Selling) Regulations are deemed to apply at this point and 'UK Documents' do not offer the right to cancel once an order has been made.

The Consumer Protection (Distance Selling) Regulations 2000 of the Exceptions to the right to cancel:  13. - (1) Unless the parties have agreed otherwise, the consumer will not have the right to cancel the contract by giving notice of cancellation pursuant to regulation 10 in respect of contracts - (c) for the supply of goods made to the consumer's specifications or clearly personalised or which by reason of their nature cannot be returned or are liable to deteriorate or expire rapidly; The Consumer Protection (Distance Selling) Regulations 2000 can be read at:

'UK Documents' protect your privacy. Any information that we collect about you is for the purpose of processing your order. This information will only be used lawfully in accordance with the Data Protection Act 1998. It will be held for no longer than is necessary for the purpose of processing and dispatching your order and/or to rectify any delay or loss before the document has been delivered. Your personal information will not be passed to any third party nor will it be used for any marketing purposes by us.
